She rose to stardom at the tender age of 18 when she joined famed girl-band The Pussycat Dolls in 2003. And Melody Thornton, 31, has now claimed the band's management team forced her to become Nicole Scherzinger's back-up dancer, despite the fact that she had joined the group as a singer.

'Gears shifted, like quickly overnight. Nicole who was older than me, she had more experience, she had been in two groups prior and she had her own management'.

'They wanted to get our first album out immediately so they wanted to give her as much responsibility as possible recording the first album, which I didn't like but I was like 'fine, we can do it'', she explained.

'But then they were like 'well you're going to have to dance'. It was pretty intense, it was really bad actually. If I didn't do it I was going home', she grimaced.

Melody has made no secret of her less-than-happy relationship with The Pussycat Dolls, having admitted earlier this month that she was actually pleased when the band came to an end in 2010.

'I was look 'good, that's over!'' I hate to say that but I was [glad],' she revealed on The Morning Show. 'For me, I'm primarily a vocalist and a lot of people don't know that and so I got into the group and they said 'you're gonna be dancing' and I was like 'I can't dance!'

'And it was a really difficult time for me so when it was over I was like 'great, next chapter,'' she said.
