ln Zufan, 10, of Mymereb, Ethiopia, does not go to school, spending her days fetching water far from home and handling other domestic chores instead. UNICEF works with partners to address widespread water scarcity and other impacts of prolonged drought — considered the region’s worst in 40 years. By improving access to safe water for drinking, cooking and personal hygiene, UNICEF is helping to ease the water burden on girls like Zufan.
