After someone complained about the fact that I installed a Sound Blaster 1.5 driver for a Sound Blaster 16 card, as well as having several others complain about issues caused by installing the incorrect driver, I decided to do some research on how to install the correct driver. It was a pain in the ass, but I finally figured out how to get the driver installed.
To get rid of the "Not enough conventional memory..." error, I had to comment out the SMARTDrive and Killer lines in autoexec.bat, as they were taking up all the conventional memory (I think 512k is required in order for the installer to continue).
I also had to edit the config.sys and comment out the SMARTDrive entry to keep the driver install program from hanging at the "Checking Audio Card" phase.
