The French Riviera is well known for its glitz and glamour, with luxurious spa hotels lining its long beachfronts and yachts sailing in and out of its harbors. But there are equally spectacular parts of this area in southern France that are all nature-made. We're gazing on one of the most beautiful: the Calanque d'En Vau on the coast of Cassis. A 'calanque' is a rocky inlet usually surrounded by high cliffs, and here we see that mesmerizing combination of translucent emerald-green sea and jagged chalk-white cliffs. The Calanque d'En Vau, and a great deal more of this incredible coastal landscape, is protected within Calanques National Park.
