Bakers is yeast is very common. You can find it in the supermarket if it is modestly stocked. It is almost entirely the same between brands and locations which makes it is easy to substitute.
This is unlike brewers yeast. Brewers yeast is less easily accessed with only brewing suppliers carrying good yeast. You can substitute one type of yeast for another. This make sit somewhat more rare.
If you have a passing interest in brewing. Have a thought maybe I will try that this weekend or something similar getting brewers yeast might not be so easy.
That leads to the thought of why can’t I use bakers yeast? It is yeast. Yeast is just a microbe that metabolises sugar right?
Well yes and no.
Bakers yeast will metabolise sugar into ethanol and CO2 if used in anaerobic environment. This is the same way brewers yeast will turn flour and water into bread. The other similarity is that both will do the others job badly.
