Meet Geisha, a dramatic Shiba Inu who once hated being groomed.
It was always a struggle. She wouldn't sit still. Then we found a way… Peanut Butter!!!
She loves it. We thought, what if we use it to make grooming more enjoyable for her?
And just like that, the peanut butter grooming routine was born.
It’s amazing! Now Geisha stays calm and still, entirely focused on her peanut butter.
Grooming her became so much easier and stress-free. She doesn’t do much drama anymore. She looks healthier and happier than before.
It's incredible how something as simple as peanut butter can transform a dog's attitude toward grooming.
Shiba Inu’s fur requires regular attention to maintain its double coat of fur
The outer layer is stiff and straight while the undercoat is soft and dense.
Brushing their coat weekly with a furminator, or other brush, can help to remove loose fur and prevent matting.
Shiba Inus don’t need to be bathed frequently as their coat.
Naturally repels dirt and debris but occasional baths with a gentle shampoo can help to keep their coat shiny and clean.
Shiba Inus may be sensitive to touch, fearful of grooming tools, or simply dislike being handled. It's important to approach their grooming with patience and understanding as forcing a dog to endure grooming can cause stress and lead to negative associations with grooming in the future.
But positive reinforcement can help the dog learn to tolerate and enjoy grooming.
Thanks to peanut butter, Geisha now looks forward to her grooming sessions, and we get to spend more quality time with her.
