The Completionist's YouTube channel, with over 1.6 million subscribers, took a break from its regular content to address these allegations, which were brought up by YouTubers Mutahar “SomeOrdinaryGamers” Anas and Karl Jobst.

The charity, created in memory of Khalil’s mother, aimed to fund research for Frontotemporal Dementia. It raised money through a charity golf tournament and IndieLand, a live-streamed event where Khalil played indie games. However, accusations suggested that the money wasn't being used as promised.

In Khalil's response video, he announced that IndieLand would no longer have a charity component, and he would step down from his role in The Open Hand Foundation. He admitted mentioning charities they were "working with" during live streams, but they had only considered them, not actually worked with them. He acknowledged that it was not right to make those statements.

Despite recent donations, concerns arose that the money raised wasn't immediately used for research, as publicly suggested. Tech and media attorney Franklin Graves noted there might be an argument that donors were misled.

Khalil later posted a video denying any criminal or financial fraud, apologizing for the delay in responding to the allegations, and addressing specific points raised against him. He confirmed a $600,000 donation to a leading charity for Frontotemporal Dementia and welcomed any audit to prove their transparency.

YouTubers Karl Jobst and Mutahar accused Khalil's charity of withholding funds and not reporting donations. Khalil responded with a video threatening legal action but also welcoming an audit. Jobst criticized Khalil's response, calling it one of the worst videos he'd ever seen and accusing Khalil of blaming others for the situation.

I've been debating whether to make this video for over a month because of the intensity on both sides. I've been accused of supporting charity fraud, which is not true. Just because I'm friends with someone online doesn't mean I agree with everything they do. In the case of Jirard Khalil, while I have mutual friends with him, it's important to know that I don't always agree with my friends. People have the right to speak their minds, and in this case, my friends were supporting Jirard.

As humans, we naturally want the best for our friends. It's normal to hope for good things for people we care about. However, it doesn't mean I agree with everything they do.
