The situation most skippers dread … being pinned on the dock by high winds. So what do we do? In our case we have a big cat behind us and the wind is blowing a steady 19-20 knots. Take a look to see.
We also give a quick look at our failed Sterling Power Products external voltage regulator that literally caught fire. But I have to add that we think it shorted out internally and Sterling Power went to great lengths to get us a new one, even though it was a year out of warranty. And we didn’t even have to use our YouTube channel as leverage. They were very gracious about the whole thing, and were wanting the Island Water World marine chandlery to air ship it back to England for inspection. They said they’d never heard of anything like this in over 5 years of making that particular item. BTW, the replacement version has been going strong ever since without a hitch.
Finally, we sail in 30+ knot winds up to Grand Case, on the French side of St Martin. This is the culinary center of the coastline, and it turns out to be a really cool little town.
