Make a Believer Out of Me - Episode 005 (Cult of Dusty)

Make a Believer Out of Me is a program where non-believers have an open discussion with members of a particular faith/world-view/belief system to educate other non-believers as to what different religions (and individual denominations within) actually believe and what they don't believe. Additionally, it gives the guests an opportunity to explain the reasons and evidence they find convincing and sufficient for their beliefs and to see if they can make a believer out of us.

On this episode, our guest was slightly different in that he is also a non-believer. Dusty Smith is the founder and leader of the "Cult of Dusty". After spending the first 30 years of his life as an evangelical Southern Baptist, Dusty began to research Christianity in order to prove its veracity to an atheist friend. He would later say his faith was "crushed by the evidence against it." Soon after, he started the Cult of Dusty YouTube channel with the aim of mocking religion and promoting atheism and rational thought. The Cult of Dusty is currently one of the most popular atheist channels on YouTube, with tens of thousands of subscribers and millions of video views worldwide. We had Dusty make a believer out of us that his style is both effective and worthwhile.

In addition to his achievements as an atheist activist, Dusty is the author of the award winning novel "7 Deadly Sins", and lead singer of the alternative/rap group "Eliterate Einstein".
