It's a consistent issue for Canadians - the supply of homes to buy or rent is not keeping up with the growing population. It's becoming a focus for the political leaders during the federal election campaign and many, including politicians, are calling it a "housing crisis."

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the average home price across Canada soared more than 30 per cent, with historically low mortgage rates and a demand for more space fuelling the frenzy. But even before COVID-19, affordability was increasing out of reach for many in big cities like Vancouver and Toronto.
