(9 May 2017) Thai police have arrested a British man wanted in the UK for involvement in a major drug smuggling network.
Authorities traced 47-year-old Jonathan Michael Moorby to an address on the popular island of Koh Samui, after following his son who had just arrived from England on a visit.
But when they raided the house on Monday they discovered Moorby had left for a nearby island called Koh Mudsum.
Accompanied by a British police officer, Thai police crossed in speedboats and discovered him at a hotel resort.
According to British media reports, Moorby, from Teesside in north-eastern England, has served several previous sentences for supplying drugs.
Thai police said among his possessions they found a doctored Belgian passport.
They say they will charge him with using fake documents and illegal entry.
There is an extradition treaty between Thailand and the UK.
