This is an edited edition of John Craven's Countryfile from 1991, visiting Hamstreet in Kent to look at how rural life and mapping had changed in the previous 200 years. Maps of the village appeared on a set of postage stamps to mark the bicentenary of the Ordnance Survey. The bypass and new developments mentioned in the documentary have been built and the village still retains a diverse range of services.
I do not own copyright on this programme which is not commercially available, and I post the clip purely for historical interest. The video is taken from a VHS home recording from the time, so the quality is very basic.
