Summery:
Daisy has 16/30 teeth. 14 were removed from stomatitis, a condition of the mucosal tissue that is usually caused from old age and bad hygiene, but can happen in younger cats from genetics. Daisy was only 3. The best solution to the condition is teeth extraction. After that, most cats remain stomatitis free the rest of their lives.
She's been healthy and remission free since.
Dental rant:
Remember, DENTAL TREATS ARE IMPORTANT!
If you're not giving your kitty dry food every few days (which is good for their oral health; a common misconception dry food is all-bad)...remember to give them dental treats! You can prevent stomatitis in your cats, and give them healthier treats too. I recommend Greenie's, but there are other brands that make dental treats too. Don't wait to address any oral issues you might notice with your cats as well.
