The Association of Equipment Management Professionals (AEMP), the premier industry association for heavy equipment and vehicle fleet management professionals, is pleased to announce this year's Fleet Masters of the Year Awards.
Each year, AEMP and Construction Equipment Magazine present the Fleet Masters of the Year Honor to outstanding equipment professionals who excel in meeting the unique challenges inherent in cost-effective, efficient and effective management of mixed fleets. Fleet Masters categories are based on the fleet's estimated replacement value (ERV): Small Fleets: Less than $10 million ERV; Medium Fleets: $10 – $100 million ERV; Large Fleets : More than $100 million ERV.
During the 35th Management Conference & Annual Meeting of the Association of Equipment Management Professionals held in Las Vegas, Strike LLC, a pipeline construction and energy services company, was honored as the 2017 Fleet Master Award for Large Fleets.
Founded in 2003 and based in The Woodlands, Texas, Strike is a single source solution for energy services, ranging from small meter stations to large diameter pipeline spreads.
Strike's success is a result of pinpoint attention to detail in three key business areas: efficient equipment acquisitions, telematic data, and full-company safety adherence.
When acquiring new equipment for a project, such as the 50 excavators and bulldozers purchased last year, Strike uses a team approach to write their specifications. Equipment managers, financial asset managers, manufactures and job-site specialists coordinate their particular requirements so that the final written specification covers more than just equipment functionality. Strike negotiates full machine warranties, service and manufacturer-certified parts availability, and specific safety equipment and procedures particular to the job.
Incorporating AEMP's telematic standard into their fleet management system allows Strike to focus on how their machines are performing on a project, track their location and usage, and accurately bill their customers. Strike makes a point to include their machine operators in their operations data collection and analysis by equipping each with smart phone apps to access machine maintenance history and enter daily inspection information directly to Strike’s internal database.
A full-company safety culture is the foundation of Strike, LLC. Working with public and private safety and environmental agencies, Strike provides training to all their employees, as well as their clients, to ensure the highest level of jobsite safety. CEO Steve Pate says, “I believe the success of our company is directly related to how well we take care of each other.” Using employee empowerment and accountability, Strike encourages workers at all levels to look out for each other, to stop work immediately if they perceive anything that feels unsafe, and to report any safety issues. Executive vice president Casey Smart says, “No project is a success unless every person leaves the project safe and healthy.”
AEMP and Construction Equipment Magazine are proud to present Strike LLC with the 2017 Fleet Masters Award for Large Fleets.
