A Delhi court on Friday granted bail to Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair in a case related to a tweet he had posted in 2018 against a Hindu deity. He will, however, remain in custody pending relief in other cases against him.
Mohammed Zubair was arrested by the Delhi Police on June 27 for allegedly hurting religious sentiments through one of his tweets and was sent to one-day police custody by the trial court on the same day.
The court in its order noted that the "offensive" tweet, which was the basis of the FIR, was made in 2018 and the police had not yet been able to identify the anonymous Twitter user who flagged the tweet.
