Snitch the cat’s owner Roger Gardner eventually realised the feline had become stuck inside the brick chimney at his home near Evesham in Worcestershire after hearing his cries of distress. The 68-year-old pet owner called the fire service for help, and they sent a search and rescue team round to his home before boring a small hole into the structure to free the stricken animal. The cat, which was rescued just after 1pm on Monday, is thought to have climbed on the roof of Mr Gardner’s home before becoming trapped in the chimney – where he could have been for days. A fire crew from Droitwich Spa first attempted to retrieve Snitch from the top of the chimney, but eventually used their skills to locate and free the cat from behind the brickwork.
