In some genres like Deep Tech and Deep House, the bass is the focus of the song. It can basically act as a lead. Finding or creating a bass sound that can be the focal point of a song isn't always easy. This Deep Tech bass in Massive is a really thick and percussive sound that will fit well into a lot of Track.
First, Johnny blends some interesting wavetables together. He uses one instance of the Dirty Throat waveform and blends that with the Screamer wavetable. These two wavetables together are capable creating either really gruff and gritty bass sounds, or more mellow and deep sounding.
To add some low end thickness, turn on Oscillator 3 and introduce a down-pithced Sine wave.
This Deep Tech bass in Massive is so thick in part because Johnny uses two filters that the sound passes through. By setting the Filter input to Serial, you can use both of the filters in Massive and have the sound pass through Filter 1 and then out to Filter 2.
As with most bass sounds in Massive, using an envelope to modulate the Cut Off of the Filter will give you more control over the sound. Johnny uses two separate envelopes to modulate both Filter 1 and Filter 2. Because of the Serial mode setting, this will really make your Deep Tech bass in Massive quite thick!
