That brave man sitting in Veerasan (heroic posture) under the cover of fog, a beautiful plant of the desert, looked alive to them, that is why they continued firing even after his death. When Thakur Bakhtawar Singh was convinced that the brave man sitting in a free posture was dead, then Bakhtawar Singh bowed down in front of him and gave him heroic respect. The government took pictures of those brave men and sent them to England. When the British got the news of this, the British officers wanted to behead Balji-Bhurji and take their heads with them, but due to the opposition of Bakhtawar Singh and other nearby jagirdars, this was not possible. Bakhtawar Singh was very saddened by their death. He sat hungry and thirsty near their bodies for four days. And then after performing the last rites of both with respect, Bakhtawar Singh returned to his home. Even today, people visit their memorial and pay their respects to them.
