Ophelia is a character in William Shakespeare's drama Hamlet written between 1599 and 1601. She has inspired many artists over time. Ophelia is a young noblewoman of Denmark and the potential wife of Prince Hamlet. But due to Hamlet's actions, she will end up in a state of madness that ultimately leads to her drowning.
