Manipur Flood Alert: Rivers surge above danger levels in Imphal
Incessant rainfall for the past couple of days in Manipur has significantly increased the water level of the Imphal River, which is now overflowing.
Several parts of Khurai and Heingang have been flooded in the city. The Imphal River is also overflowing near the Singjamei Bridge. Meanwhile local MLAs have taken the initiative to implement precautionary measures. Locals are also engaged in stopping the water from flowing into residential areas using gunny bags filled with mud and sand.
Areas affected by flood include the Cheirap Court Complex, entrance of Luwangpokpa Multi Sport Complex and entrance to the Inspector General of Assam Rifles, Mahabali Hanuman Thakur Temple and the surrounding areas are also affected.
