Dr. Catherine Faulds from London, Ontario believes that knowledge is something to be shared. She is recognized by her patients, students and colleagues for her unrivalled commitment to educating future doctors and the healthcare community at large.
Completing her medical education at the University of Western Ontario, Cathy became a Certificant of the College in 1989 and a Fellow in 2004. In addition to managing a busy family practice, Cathy is one of 50 Canadian doctors who are U.S. Board Certified in palliative care and hospice medicine. She lends this expertise in her role as team leader of the Palliative Care Unit at Parkwood Hospital.
A strong advocate for health promotion and disease prevention, Cathy's visionary leadership led to the development of the London Family Health Group Shared Care Pilot Initiative. This program resulted in the Ontario Ministry of Health's provision of funding for a successful model of collaborative care. A master of the Nightingale EMR System, Cathy mentors other physicians in optimizing the quality of patient care in their practice.
An adjunct professor for UWO's Undergraduate Family Medicine Program, Cathy has won the Teacher of the Year Award two years running. Currently she is involved with three palliative care research projects and co-authored two papers on the topic published in Canadian Family Physician.
In her leisure time Cathy takes an active interest in gardening, jogging, canoeing, and skiing. She is married to Tom Faulds who is also a family physician.
