Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who donated to help little Phabeni on GivingTuesday 💚 We are absolutely blown away by your support!
The vast majority of our funds come from individuals. Not from companies or partners or grants, but from people around the world who care deeply about elephants. That can be quite a stressful position to be in as an organisation. Donations from individuals aren’t guaranteed, and a number of factors influence what people are able to give.
But our supporters have always, always been there to help us when we need it most. We know that we can count on our HERD family. We can’t tell you how much that means to us 💚
Yesterday, you showed us again just how incredible you are. 517 people donated to Phabeni’s fundraiser yesterday, and many more helped to spread the word. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping to give Phabeni a second chance at life.
As a thank you for all your help, here’s a video of little Phabeni cuddling with his human mom, Adine. Tactile communication is extremely important to elephants, and so touch is a vital part of their rehabilitation. The carers and Adine touch Phabeni to bond with him, soothe him, and communicate with him. In this video, Phabeni takes touching to a whole new level, showing us that he’s becoming much more comfortable at the orphanage.
