Shares of the Adani Group were hammered on January 27 as the group lost Rs 3.37 lakh crores in aggregate market capitalisation in a single day. The value of LIC’s holdings in Adani Group companies came down from Rs 72,193 crore on January 24 to Rs 55,565 crore on January 27. A 22 percent dip in just two days. It is important to note that Life Insurance Corporation of India, over the last nine quarters increased its shareholding sharply in four of the seven listed Adani Group companies. It also increased its shareholding in at least one of the companies almost six-fold.
