Frog fishing is a staple technique anytime you're targeting bass around shallow cover such as grass, wood or manmade cover. Like other popular tactics, having the right rod setup helps you boat more bass. Pro bass angler, Bob Downey, explains why he carries 2 different rod setups for frogging and the key differences between the combos. He explains his ideal setup for frog fishing in close quarters around specific targets and his ideal setup for targeting bass using long casts over expansive flats. Both setups vary significantly in length, action and power. And like rods, there's no 1 right braid for frogging, rather a range between 40- to 65-pound depending on your situation. Downey explains when to use each based on the situation.
