A former BBC DJ has been sentenced to more than five years in prison after being found guilty of stalking broadcasters, including TV presenter Jeremy Vine, in a relentless hate campaign.
Alex Belfield, 42, was sentenced to 5 years and 26 weeks in prison at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, after he labeled "Jimmy Savile for phishing" during the trial in August. A jury found Belfield guilty of causing serious concern or distress to two victims and of a "minor" stalking in connection with Channel 5 and BBC Radio 2 presenter Jeremy and theater blogger Philip DeHaney.
