CLARIFICATION: In this video, Lainie Givens states that the corpora cavernosa tissue is removed during surgery. The inflatable device is inserted (not removed) into the corpora cavernosa tissue (erectile tissue) via a corporotomy (cutting into the erectile tissue). Fully or partially removing the corpora cavernosa tissue may occur in certain circumstances like severe Peyronie's Disease or severe vascular issues or tissue trauma that may warrant more extensive surgical procedures. Although penile implants may be removed, there is a high risk of tissue scarring and injury to the corpora cavernosa tissue that would severely compromise natural erectile function.
