In a major turn of events, British pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca has announced the withdrawal of its COVID-19 vaccine on a global scale. This decision comes months after the company admitted, for the first time in court documents, the potential for a rare and dangerous side effect associated with the vaccine. The vaccine in question, developed in collaboration with Oxford University, has been widely distributed worldwide and was known under various names, including Covishield, when produced by the Serum Institute of India. However, citing commercial reasons, AstraZeneca has now initiated the withdrawal process.
