This recipe for fried green tomatoes is my healthier take on a traditional Southern favorite - but made in the oven! They are so yummy, crispy, and flavorful that you honestly won't know that they were only baked when you taste them.
Ingredients
For the tomatoes:
3 medium green tomatoes, sliced into ¼-½’’ rounds (you should have about 12 pieces total)
1 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
½ cup white flour
1/3 cup cornmeal
2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
½ cup buttermilk
1 large egg
For the hot sauce aioli:
3 tablespoons olive oil mayonnaise
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons hot sauce (I use Louisiana)
