Jane Rutter Is proud to be a Haynes Artist
Internationally-acclaimed concert soloist Australian-French flutist Jane Rutter, was recently knighted by France (Chevalier des Arts et Lettres). She is an expert in the French Flute School and is considered by many as a trail blazer and a major influence in classical music. Known for her mystical flute meditations and onstage warmth, she brilliantly conveys passion, sparkling technique and elegance of expression through her beautiful flute playing. Soloist, award-winning TV presenter, multi-ARIA (Australian Grammy) nominee, & one of Who Magazine’s 30 Most Beautiful People, Jane is in demand as an Artistic Director and composer. A student of Jean-Pierre Rampal & Alain Marion, from her first iconic album, Nocturnes and Preludes for Flute, Jane’s sublime flute playing has seen a further 23 best-selling albums released including Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, French Kiss and Flute Spirit: Dreams and Improvisations. Jane performs regularly in Paris and around the world: from Recital Halls to the Sydney Opera House, from Music Festivals to Theatre / Cabaret venues. Her early Chamber Jazz group, POSH, (now Third Culture World Chamber Music) was a forerunner of Yoyo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble. Renowned for her musical imagination, Jane is one of the world's finest classical & world-music flutists.
I have the greatest pleasure in recommending Jane Rutter’s warm and sensual flute playing. Jane is a generous brilliant flutist of the highest quality -Jean-Pierre Rampal
Jane Rutter honours the French Flute School each time she picks up her flute to play… Jane’s playing breathes contemporary life into the French Flute School’s exalted status and recalls its glorious past. I thank and applaud Jane for her passion and enthusiasm, and give her a “bravissimo” for her superb talent!’ -Raymond Guiot, Professor of Flute, Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris.
A star of the flute! -London Daily Mail
A Jane Rutter speciality is sparkling flute playing. Her strength lies in a dexterous brilliance, which scoffs at the need to breathe. She has a bright clear tone and excels in moments of whimsical and dancing precision. -Sydney Morning Herald
When I heard Jane Rutter’s flute playing I knew instantly that she completely understood the soul, technique and methods of the Rampal school. I am enchanted with her musicianship and sound. It’s truly ‘La Belle Flûte Française’. I listened to this beautiful flute playing with sweet pleasure. Jean-Pierre Rampal would be very pleased. Merci, Jane! -Madame Jean-Pierre Rampal
Jane Rutter is one of the finest flautists...She is a free spirit, one of the blessed people. -The Sunday Age
Jane Rutter is "The Divine Miss R". She's a classical siren in whose hands the flute becomes and instrument of seduction and sensual pleasure. -The Weekend Australian (Cover Story)
Jane Rutter's depiction of the Rampal flute school (in the film An Australian in Paris) absolutely perfect. Jane brilliantly incorporates the way Jean-Pierre Rampal viewed the flute: his teachings and passion for music, the arts and life. It is difficult to find the right words to express this extraordinary method and philosophy of flute playing-not just a flute method, but a study in the art of life-With An Australian in Paris - it’s just perfect! Denis Verroust, président de L'Association Jean-Pierre Rampal
I heard An Australian in Paris, and was proud to see my works featuring in the company of music by Claude Debussy, George Gershwin and Maurice Ravel, played by Jane. In French Kiss, she gives me the pleasure of performing ‘Sentimentale’ and ‘Irlandaise’, which I wrote for Jean-Pierre Rampal. Again, my music appears beside that of prestigious composers and again, I find in the sonority and in the interpretation a worthy pupil of Jean-Pierre Rampal. Claude Bolling
Brilliant classical flautist Rutter is equally at home in cabaret… breath catching one-liners and some dazzling send ups, including one of Madonna where Rutter dressed in a shiny golden corset, plays Like a Virgin on piccolo. Sydney Morning Herald Metro
