The Enneagram is an ancient tool for assessing personality armor patterns. It has it roots in religion with a relationship to the Christian church, Buddhism, Judaism and more. In order to effect lasting and fruitful change in your life, it’s helpful to first identify the patterns of personality that are inhibiting the change. There are nine core patterns identified through the Enneagram, with multiple combinations of health, wings, and stress/security movements.

The co-founder of the Enneagram Institute, Russ Hudson, explains the origins of the Enneagram and its connection to human personality traits. This brief introduction to the Enneagram addresses the history that created these nine core patterns. Russ Hudson, with his partner Don Riso, developed the scientifically-validated test instrument, the Riso-Hudson Enneagram Type Indicator (RHETI), now considered a standard test in the Enneagram field.
