I can’t tell you how much of an influence George Michael has had on my singing – he is, in my opinion, one of the greatest artists of all time gone too soon. I still can’t believe that he wrote this song when he was just 17…and the rest is history!

In my first ever Virtual Live Concert held during Lockdown, I really wanted to honour George Michael as a key musical inspiration in my life, and this live performance is my humble tribute to him.

One of the biggest parts of this song is the signature saxophone solo which is so distinctive in the record – the whole world knows it, including you! We didn’t have a saxophonist available to perform this song with us so I asked our violinist, Naomi, to play the solo. I’d never heard the song with a violin playing the solo piece before but when she played it in rehearsal I remember the hairs on the back of my neck and my arms standing up and knew instantly that it would work. I feel like it’s the perfect instrument for this rendition as the violin has that melancholic undertone whilst still carrying the brightness and romance of the original piece. What do you think?
