The Shah Jahan Mosque at Woking was Britain's first purpose-built mosque. It was established in 1889, with financial backing from the Begum Shah Jahan of Bhopal. The mosque was designed in an Indo-Persian Mughal style, and has a dome , minarets, and a courtyard. The architecture was described by the famed Pevsner Architectural Guides as "extraordinarily dignified".
