Check out the second pair of Egyptian statues we made for the Houston Museum of Natural Science! These two 12ft tall striding statues reference many other Egyptian statues that depict an Egyptian King or Elite official striding forth, left leg forward, to convey a sense of vigor, power, and influence. Egypt's artists placed the left leg forward in statues because the left side is where the heart resides. For Ancient Egyptians, the heart was the seat of emotion, but also intelligence and will. By striding forward with the left foot, the king would symbolically tread down evil so the heart could proceed.
