Biniam Girmay, a 24-year-old Eritrean athlete has scripted history after winning the Tour De France In Italy. He became the first black African to win the tour defeating British cyclist Mark Cavendish. He is also the third African to win the Grande Boucle after South Africans Daryl Impey and Rob Hunter. Soon after his victory, Girmay took to social media to say “Let me open the door. It means a lot personally for me and the continent of Africa.” He eyes the Paris Olympics next. But, the Eritrean cyclist's journey to success was not easy. He had to leave his home and shift to Europe to achieve his dream and make his country proud. Watch our video for more.
