This video teaches you the basics of beginner backstroke. Learning how to swim on your back uses a lot of similar skills to freestyle. Rotation without moving your head is essential and don't forget to add a light kick.

SAFETY GUIDELINES FOR BEGINNERS
Swimming, like all athletic activities, is physically challenging and involves risks to participants that cannot be entirely eliminated. Please use these resources at your own risk and always follow these guidelines when learning to swim.
👉 Practise with a coach or experienced swimmer
👉 Practise in shallow, calm water
👉 Dress appropriately - water resistant swimwear and goggles
👉 When in doubt, get out. Only swim when feeling comfortable
