I have really strong feelings about “Mommy Wine” culture and how toxic it is for this next generation of kids we are raising.

If you are an adult and choose to drink that is 100% your choice. But do we really think it’s acceptable and appropriate to blame that choice on kids? 🤔

There’s a whole movement on social media of women who think it’s funny to joke about how much they look forward to drinking. Or who post about drinking mimosas and spiking their coffee when they have to deal with their kids all day.

Listen, I have 2 toddlers who are 18 months apart. There isn’t a single bit of me who is going to pretend taking care of kids is easy or that I have it all figured out.

But the thought of drinking and then being around my kids? I couldn’t do it. Not only would I not be functioning at 100% capacity to pay attention to them, energetically I wouldn’t be present. I would be numbing myself to be able to be around my kids.

And that feels all kinds of misaligned to me.

Don’t our kids deserve our time, attention and presence?

Don’t our kids deserve to feel valued and not be scapegoats for our trauma and addiction?

I quit drinking before I ever had kids. And I’m truly SO grateful they will never know drunk me or hungover me. They won’t ever see me in an altered state. They will always get the “me” that makes them feel safe and loved. That’s the kind of Mom culture i would love to see on social media. 💓
