One of my favourite quotes of all time is from a must-watch interview with Jeff Bezos, from 1999. The quote reads: "It's not a fear that you can lose it all. It's a fact." This was also one of the topics addressed in the last live 'On the Way to New Work' podcasts - the problem of managing and working with fear.
It simply doesn't work. Even if we make an effort not to work driven by fear, we have a hard time to differentiate between the phenomenon of fear and the fact that loosing is part of the game. To me, this realization was one of the hardest, but also most important lessons this year and a source of motivation to get up everyday and do my best.
