(18 Nov 2020) Taiwan's broadcasting regulators on Wednesday rejected a license renewal application from news channel CTiTV, a pro-China television station.
National Communications Commission (NCC) chairman Chen Yaw-shyang said all seven commissioners voted to deny CTi TV's request to renew its six-year broadcast license, which expires on 11 December.
Chen said CTiTV was subject to "external interference" and had repeatedly violated Taiwan's broadcasting code.
CTiTV is owned by the Want Want Group. The owner, Tsai Eng-meng, is a pro-China Taiwanese businessman who has factories and big investments in China.
