Though pirates have existed since ancient times, the Golden Age of piracy was in the 17th and early 18th centuries. During this time more than 5000 pirates were said to be at sea. Famous pirates from this period include Henry Morgan, William Kidd, and the fearsome Edward Teach also known as Blackbeard. However, there was a pirate greater than all the aforementioned pirates combined and that pirate was a woman named Ching Shih. Written and hosted by Mike Droberg.
