EDIT**
Brief history on the Running man, Og's of the dance consider it Melbourne Shuffle Generation 3.
It's when the younger kids started doing AUS (Hardstyle) In Melbourne from the late 1990's to 2005, 2006 through to 2008, to present day.
Generation 2 was more about power moves and tricks, full length side kicks, spins, and hat tricks.
1999/2000 to about 2005 ish.
Generation 1 was fun but a little goofy, like very specific moves. the actual shuffle (tstep)
with stepping - side steps, lots of back stepping, sometimes front steps. There’s kicks. High Side kicks. And lots of arm moves in time with the music.
It was always a full body dance. The feet are shuffling, while the legs are moving and kicking or back stepping, while the arms are in time with the music but also coordinated with the rest of the body movements.
Here is the Running man tutorial.
Originally the Running Man comes from Hop-Hop from what I've researched, It was added into the Melbourne Shuffle sometime in the late 90's to early 2000's. It's become a very monumental pillar of the dance style now. It comes from what's called Gen 3 Melbourne Shuffle, according to more research that i've done and from the Melbourne OG's themselves.
This dance was done way back in the day, before it was in the clubs and then underground raves. It was called barn dancing and Bushdoof's and a few other names thrown into the mix. Then later called Stomping and other names as well.
