Pinguecula is common in persons exposed to strong sunlight. Along with Inflammation, intraepithelial abscess formation is one of its complications. Pterygium is a condition associated with growth in the conjunctiva of the eye covering its white part and spreading towards the cornea. There are two types of pterygium discussed in this lecture i.e. progressive pterygium and regressive pterygium.
In conjunction with this, comparative elaboration is given on pterygium and pseudopterygium. Variety of surgical techniques are also highlighted through which treatment of recurrence of pterygium is carried out. Few of these techniques encompass surgical excision with free CLAU, surgical excision with lamellar keratectomy, and surgical excision with lamellar keratoplasty.
Likewise, elaboration is given on another eye condition known as concretions characterized by lesions of white or yellow color present under the surface of eyelids. Lastly, clinical features of amyloid degeneration of conjunctiva illustrates that amyloid deposition is associated with subconjunctival Haemorrhage.
