A very sweet couple came into the gallery a while back and asked me to commission a piece similar to one they had seen on my website that I had done over a year ago. They really liked blues with some gray and browns, so I used metallics (silver and bronze) to meet those requirements because, c’mon, who doesn’t love the shimmer of metallics?
I hope you enjoy this video. Don’t let the size of the canvas get into your head. It’s just more paint. The technique is the same, the consistency of your paint is the same and what mediums you use to mix your paint with are the same. You just need a little more paint and the space to do it. 😉
All paints were mixed with 4p mix and water to a medium thick consistency. Not as thick as a ring pour, slightly thinner. Remember, you want your paint to flow under your base coat, as you get some pretty awesome cells and lacing that way.
I firmly believe in “artists helping artists”, so give these guys a watch and subscribe to their channel if you get a chance. We can all learn from each other! Join the “Acrylic Crazy Train” group on Facebook!

**I got into acrylic pouring after playing around with epoxy resin and wanting to do some art with it. After realizing the amount of time it took to prep and clean up, it wasn’t quite as appealing to me anymore. That’s when I stumbled onto some YouTube videos about acrylic pouring and I WAS HOOKED. This was in 2020, and with COVID running rampant, it was the perfect thing to keep me occupied and staying home, safe and sound. This art form is extremely cathartic and empowering at the same time.
There’s no greater feeling than pouring paint on to a canvas and watching magic happen before your eyes! I’m so honored to be displaying my work in two local restaurants here in Houston – so exciting! Thank you so much for coming along on this journey with me!**
