"Vietnam and Bulgaria are both emerging as new strong economies. Although, the two countries' economic development has not matched with our potentials. I hope with this visit, our economic ties will be strengthened for the benefits of both countries."

STORYLINE:
Bulgarian Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev arrived in Vietnam on Thursday, on a visit aimed at boosting trade and economic ties between the two countries.
Stanishev said that the two countries should do more to cement their trade and economic relations.
"Vietnam and Bulgaria are both emerging as new strong economies... I hope with this visit, our economic ties will be strengthened for the benefits of both countries," he said.
The Bulgarian Prime Minister said his country will cooperate with Vietnam on energy, medicine production and education.
Stanishev was scheduled to meet with Communist Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet.
He will also hold talks with Vietnamese business leaders and address students at the Institute of International relations before leaving on Saturday.
It was the first visit to Vietnam by a Bulgarian prime minister since 1996.
