2. SOUNDBITE: (English) Nzanga Mobutu, presidential candidate:
"First of all we need an honest and decent man as president. I'm a decent man and an honest man. Second for the people we need to send clear messages of solidarity, of peace, and address security issues all over the country. We need a strong army but we need a quality army, an impressive army. So those are the two clear messages we will send throughout the country."

STORYLINE:
The son of the Democratic Republic of Congo's longest serving president is one of 33 presidential candidates running in the vast central African state's historic election on Sunday.
"We need to send clear messages of solidarity, of peace, and address security issues all over the country," Nzanga Mobutu, the son of Mobutu Sese Seko, said.
"We need a strong army but we need a quality army, an impressive army," he added.
The Democratic Republic of Congo has endured decades of civil wars, army looting sprees and coups d'etat.
Mobutu Sese Seko mis-ruled Congo for 32 years in what was termed a "kleptocracy" by political scientists, referring to the manner in which he and his elite profited from the vast mineral wealth of the country.
Some Congolese - mindful of the West's support for Mobutu and the overseas markets where minerals looted during Congo's wars finally landed - are wary of the UN administered election because it is also being supported by the West.
