In Day 3 of Adrian Chandler's 'edit a Vivaldi violin concerto a day' challenge that he undertook throughout the pandemic, he shows us evidence of a manuscript being some of Vivaldi's late baroque music rather than early baroque music.
Using snippets of information, most likely not noticable to the untrained eye Adrian Chandler can determine that compared to some of the early baroque music we have seen him edit previously, Vivaldi's Violin Concerto RV235 is from his late baroque music. In addition Adrian shows us how Vivaldi used to become a little confused whilst writing in his violin parts, forgetting which stave is for the violin solo and which belong to first violin and second violin.
Having previously edited early Vivaldi violin concertos in this series, the contrasts both between his early baroque music and late baroque music; and those between manuscripts in Vivaldi's own hand and those written by others are stark. This series gives Adrian Chandler the opportunity to show even the untrained eye just how beautiful a manuscript written in Vivaldi's own hand can be, and a behind the scenes look at life as a musician.
