HOMEMADE PICKLED ONIONS 🧅. Takes 10 minutes to make and lasts about 2-3 weeks long. This is a healthier version of pickled onions with no processed sugar. Add it to your tacos, burgers, sandwiches, salads, etc.
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup maple syrup or agave
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black peppercorns (optional)
Simmer water, vinegar, maple syrup and salt together until the salt dissolves. Slice red onions about 1/8 inch thick with a mandolin or knife. Add to a mason jar and pour hot liquid. Close with lid and store in fridge. Will be pickled the next day!
