Presentation:
1. Nurturing the Creativity of the Youth: - Innovation, Startups and the Role
of Technology
Hassan Jallow is an entrepreneur, software developer, technology enthusiast and electronics hobbyist. He has long since found passion in technology during his younger days while living in the North Bank region of The Gambia. He would play around with electronic gadgets and build things from components of different devices. In 2009, he built his high school’s first ever website.
Hassan started teaching himself computer programming immediately after graduating from high school in 2011. He strongly believes that the greatest skill a person can possess is the ability to teach oneself. His pace in computer programming picked up and his passion for it grew. In 2013, Hassan joined the University of The Gambia to pursue his interest in computers, electronics and software engineering. Now, at 26, he is the founder and Chief Software Architect of Assutech, an award-winning software engineering start-up company in The Gambia which he hopes to grow into a global tech giant.
Hassan is a Mandela Washington Fellow 2018. During the fellowship earlier this year, he had the opportunity to complete a six weeks Business and Entrepreneurship training at Clark Atlanta University in the United States of America. In addition to that, he worked as an engineering Fellow at a Data Analytics company in Silicon Valley, California.
Aside from electronics and software development, Hassan is an ardent martial artist and currently holds a Black Belt in Taekwondo.
