Join me as I hike a trail that gives an amazing overlook of Las Vegas and the Strip.
Starting out at a horse/ass pen, walking through Joshua Trees, and begin the hike up the BoneShaker trail toward Blue Diamond Hill for incredible views. Continuing the loop I went down Bob Gnarly Trail which exceded every expectation I had for it. Truly a beautiful hike and so close to Las Vegas.
Along the way I saw Cholla, Agave, Barrel Cactus, Yucca, among seasonal wildflowers. As well as, Hummingbirds, Lizards, Horny Toads, and Chukar. A SAR helicopter passed right over my head as well. The whole trail I only saw 4 people, 3 of them were together. This was a good trail for that "getting away from everything" feeling.
These trails were mostly formed by Mountain Bikers and Horses, but is fun and rewarding to hike. I can see how it would be easy to get lost. After the second horse pen hug it to the right to start the trail, at the first clear "Y" turn right, every single clear "Y" I passed the whole rest of the trail, I made lefts, except for 1 right that was halfway up Boneshaker with a huge rock cairn pile in the divide. I have Verizon and only had service in the parking area and at the top, Google maps worked well enough.
