On 5 December, Intelligence Squared and the OECD will join forces to debate the question "Can we really end poverty?".

Thought-leaders from the world's leading development think tanks, the OECD, academia and civil society will offer different perspectives on these questions, and discuss what needs to be done to end poverty after 2015.

Ahead of the event, José Ángel Gurría, the Secretary General of the OECD, outlines the problems and possible solutions to ending poverty in the 21st century.
