When the terminal molars need both a force and a couple to be corrected, the movement with continuous archwires can be time consuming, because the force system applied is usually inconsistent.
Moreover, sometimes we only need to move the second molars. In these cases, in order to apply a SPECIFIC FORCE SYSTEM, a rectangular loop is a great option. In this video, a preactivation specific to apply a geometry V force system was used. Remember that you can apply any force system with the rectangular loops! The secret is to understand the biomechanical principles for the correct preactivations.
If you want to learn more about rectangular loops and the segmented arch techniques, checkout our new book "The Secrets of Biomechanics - the universal language of the force systems".
